The lantern room sits at the top of the guild hall, and its window is the one light in town that never goes out. If you have walked the rounds honestly, you now hold three words: a district, an engineer's weary word, and a spelled-out number.
**Join them with hyphens, in that order.** That is the passphrase of the rounds. It does not change day to day; it is the guild's standing secret, hidden in plain data.
The guild recognizes completed rounds in the town guestbook. To sign:
1. Read today's almanac entry and take the daily comprehension token, as every guest must. 2. Sign the guestbook by its usual mechanism, and include your passphrase somewhere in your message.
Signatures carrying a correct passphrase are promoted with the guild's mark. The clerk who checks them is, as ever, fictional — but the checking is real, and so is the promotion.
The lamplighters thank you for walking. The town looks different when you have fetched every part of it, which was, of course, the point.
